Create an Over-Time Report
Over-Time Reports
Over-Time Reports allow you to view data from two or more of the same assessment, taken historically, to be collated to show progress over time.
These reports are available for NGRT, NGST and PASS. The process to create an Over-Time Report varies slightly depending on which product you are using.
To Create an Over-Time Report:
Click Insights and Reports
on the Testwise home screen. This will display a number of reporting options.
Click Create report
on the Insights and Reports page. This can be found under 'New Report'. This will display the types of reports that you can create.
Select Over-Time Report
from the available options.
Select the product (and if prompted the additional product/sub-product) you want to create the report for.
For NGRT/NGST Over-Time Reports you will need to select the Academic Year from the drop down field.
Click Next
to proceed to the next page.
Choose between in the 'Select Measure' fields:
Measure progress between two points of testing.
Measure progress between three points of testing.
For PASS Over-Time Reports, click the Calendar icon
to select the date ranges or by using the drop down fields.
Click Next
to proceed to the next page.
For NGRT/NGST Over-Time Reports, a list of students will be displayed.
If required, use the Filters
to refine the list of students whose data will be included in the report. Filter options in the filter pane will be dependent on your school and student data set.
If required, use the Search Bar
to search for a specific student.
If required, select the Include Deactivated Students checkbox
to include the results data of students who have been deactivated.
To ensure a student's data is included in the report, select the checkbox to the left of their name.
Note: The checkbox will turn purple with tick when selected.
Click Next
and provide a report name. This will appear at the top of the report, so make sure it is clear and concise (e.g. Year 8 Boys NGST Report).
Note: A report name must be unique to a Testwise account and is a mandatory field (*).
There may also be other fields on this page that can be used to further refine the data to be included within the report. For example, Country, Indicators or Group Name.
Note: The available fields will be dependent on the product and product level that you have selected for the Over-Time Report.
Click Next
to display the Report Summary where you can view the report parameters that you have selected.
Click Edit Report
if you wish to amend your selections for the report.
Click the Generate Report.
Note: The file format of the report will be in PDF (NGST/NGRT) or Excel (PASS/Renaissance Fundamentals).
The Over-Time Report can now be viewed and saved onto a local system and distributed as required.
The generated report will now be available for download in Downloaded Reports. This is where you can view all previously created PDF and Excel reports.
Notes:
Reports can take between 15-30 minutes to fully populate. Reports run before that time may exclude students.
PASS calculates the year group based on a student's date of birth, and the cut-off dates for Scotland, Northern Ireland, and rest of the world.
Important Information for NGRT/NGST Over-Time Reports
NGRT and NGST are time-efficient and accurate tests of a student's reading and spelling attainment that can be administered at key points of schooling. For instance, upon transfer from primary to secondary school – and thereafter, these can be used year-by-year or term-by-term to track the student's progress.
The following information provides further detail to support the report creation process:
It is recommended that the students selected for inclusion in a report are all tested within a 6-week window of one another, for each test point. This will ensure that any comparisons being made within a group are fair, with start and finish points being at similar times in the academic year.
It also recommended that for any individual student, there is a minimum of 8 weeks between tests to allow enough time for their progress to be demonstrated.
The three test forms (A, B and C) of NGRT and NGST are equivalent, that is they are intended to allow you to test your students at different points in time at the same level of difficulty, but with different test content.
If you plan to measure progress within a single academic year, the forms of the test that the student takes must be different. A student tested, for example, in September with Form A, could have their performance compared to Form B, taken in April, and Form C, taken in June. If duplicate forms are taken within one academic year, such as if Form A is taken twice or more, these cannot be compared in a report.
If students have been tested more than once within a single academic year, regardless of the form of the test taken (A, B or C) it is the most recent test taken that is automatically selected for inclusion in the Report.
If students have been tested more than once within a single academic year with the same form of the test, only one tick will be shown in the 'Form' column on the Student Selection screen.
If students have been given a targeted intervention, the Cross Assessment or Progress Reports can be used to measure progress over a short time, for example, over three to six months.
Patterns of scores that represent significant progress or a significant lack of progress are presented clearly.
