Why are you introducing new norms?
We monitor our norms regularly and update them when necessary. New norms can be needed for a variety of reasons, for example due to changing attitudes over time, political or social factors in schools. For example, in recent years there has been considerable impact on education from the COVID-19 pandemic. We want to ensure that PASS reports reflect an updated understanding of student feelings about school. All the data in our new norms was collected from students who returned to school after the majority of COVID-19 lockdowns ended.
How do I generate a report using the new norms?
Once the new norms are released, you will have the ability to select Original or New norms when Creating a Report on PASS data in Testwise.
How were the new norms calculated?
Our new norms were created from students who took PASS 1, 2, and 3 from August 2021 to November 2022. You can read more about our sampling methods in the technical report
