When to test with CAT4
When CAT4 is administered will vary according to each school’s calendar and the purpose for which the results will be used. Some examples:
- Primary schools may administer CAT4 early in the school year so that diagnostic information can be used to modify, as necessary, the educational programme of an individual student or group of students.
- Secondary schools will commonly administer CAT4 at the start of the first school year, or at the end of key stage targets, or at the point of choice of examination subjects or pre-vocational courses.
- Career guidance can be assisted by a student’s profile of abilities as shown by CAT4 results.
- At any time of year, new students or late transfer students can be assessed with CAT4.
