About Student First

What is Student First?

Student First is a three-year flexible assessment package, designed to respond to the specific challenges your students are facing after a year of disruption.

Every Student First assessment package begins with wellbeing, a crucial component of all students’ education. The Pupil Attitudes to Self and School (PASS) survey is designed to shine a light on any barriers to learning your students may have, paving the way for you to target intervention.

Every student’s story, however, is different, which is why the rest of the components of the Student First assessment package are flexible and chosen by you. The Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4) will provide you with a unique profile of each student’s strengths and areas for development, regardless of where you are in the curriculum.

The Progress Test Series (PT Series) will enable you to identify learning gaps and measure year-on-year progress, while the New Group Reading Test (NGRT) provides you with an accurate benchmark for your students’ reading ability, as well as targeted interventions to ensure every student reaches his or her potential.
